Teachers Eligibility Test : Syllabus & Exam Pattern
If you aare preparing for CTET or any TET conducted by individual States, here is the pattern of examination and syllabus of subjects for you.
There are two types of TET conducted for selectiong Assistant Teachers in Primary Schools and Junior Secondary Schools. Lower Primary TET for recruiting teachers for Class I to IV (1 to 4). Similarly, Upper Primary TET examinations are conducted for selection of teachers for Class V to VIII (5 to 8).
Question Type & Duration
There are 150 multiple choice type questions (MCQ) each carrying one mark in all type of TET examination. Duration of test is 90 minutes (i.e one and half hour).
Subjects For Lower Primary TET
There are five subjects in Primary TET for class I to V comprising 30 MCQs in each subject.
- Language-I : 30 MCQ
- Language-II: 30 MCQ
- Mathematics : 30 MCQ
- Environmental Studies : 30 MCQ
- Child Development & Pedagory : 30 MCQ
Subjects For Upper Primary TET
In Upper Primary TET the candidates get two options. Tow different optional papers are there One for selcting Science Teacher and the other for engaging Social Studies teachers. Science Teachers are expected to teach Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics, Chemistry) & Life Science. Whereas Teachers opted for Social Studies have to teach subjects like History, Geography, etc. Aspiring candidates has to choose one subject from these two papers. Compulsory subjects are common for all candidates.
- Language-I : 30 MCQ
- Language-II: 30 MCQ
- Social Studies OR Mathematics & Science: 60 MCQ
- Child Development & Pedagory : 30 MCQ
TET Qualification & Rank
All candidates scoring certain percentage of marks in TET examination are declared as TET qualified candidates. They will get a TET Qualified Certififate with rank from the selection authority. The certificate is valid for certain number of years. These TET qualified candidates are eligible for appearing in interviews conducted for appointment as Assistant Teachers in different schools under the juristinction of the selection authority.
